The lot includes:

1. An interesting World War II era propaganda calendar from collaborationist Spain for the year 1942 chock full of photographs of Adolf Hitler with other fascist leaders such as Mussolini, scenes from battle in Europe, North Africa and the Pacific theaters, depictions of Germans working in Organization Todt, soldiers laboring to suppress "bolshevism," and much more. It measures 7.75" x 11.5", and comprises 52 pages with one week of dates per page beneath an image. Fascinating photographs, with appropriate pro-Nazi captioning.

2. A World War I date diary kept by a prisoner of war living in London and spanning the dates March 11 - July 11, 1918. The marbled cover diary with lined pages measures 6.5" x 7.75" and comprises a total of 54+ pages fully-completed in German, and is accompanied by news clippings from London newspapers both tipped-in and loose. The content varies from observations and commentary on life, philosophical musings, to a section in which the writer transcribes in English "Army Council Instructions No. 304 of 1918."

An example of the contents follows (roughly translated): "May 11. The beautiful flowers were painted again, and the schedule was followed. When you really get involved in something, I think, you should try to do it properly. Today, my birthday was celebrated at the tower. A speech was given by Strecker, flowers were placed on the table, and other little things that belong to a birthday were prepared. All birthdays here at the tower are celebrated according to old customs…"

3. A group of four World War II-era Soviet propaganda photomontages, each 6" x 8" b/w (sight), and matted to overall dimensions of 14" x 17", depicting the woes of the proletariat under capitalism, a composite image of tanks and aircraft extolling the military power of the Soviet Union, happy proletarians marching before a tanker, and critiquing the embargo by England against Soviet exports.
