Rock 'n Roll

The Byrds have inscribed and signed two tan stock paper slips, accompanied by an 8.5" x 11" color photo of the band mates printed on resume paper. The larger slip, measuring 4.25" x 5", is inscribed "Hi from THE BYRDS" and signed by band members Jim McGuinn as "Jim McGuinn", Gene Clark as "GENE CLARK", and Michael Clarke as "Michael Clarke". The smaller slip is signed by Chris Hillman as "Chris Hillman" and David Crosby as "David Crosby". The autographed paper slips are in near fine condition, with a minor discolored spot in the upper right corner of the smaller slip. The photo shows expected wear. Comes with a copy of JSA Letter of Authenticity from group lot.

 

The paper slips date from sometime between the band's formation in 1964 and 1966, when tambourine player Gene Clark left the group. The autographs also predate Jim McGuinn's name change to "Roger McGuinn" in 1967. The color photo depicts The Byrds drinking beer at a bar while sporting classic 1970s clothing like paisley printed shirts and white cowboy boots.

 

The Byrds, an American folk rock band formed in  southern California in 1964, was comprised of lead guitarist Jim McGuinn (born 1942), rhythm guitarist David Crosby (born 1941), bass guitarist Chris Hillman (born 1944), tambourine player Gene Clark (1944-1991), and drummer Michael Clarke (1946-1993). The Byrds are credited with combining the sound of British invasion bands with the melodies and rhythms of American folk music.
