This arrest warrant, signed by Justice of the Peace Donald R. Lacy, orders the arrest of the slave Adderson on suspicion that he committed an assault with intent to rape on Nancy Fisher in her bedroom.

State of Tennessee / Madison County
To any lawful officer to execute and return
This day came Jacob Fisher before me, Donald R. Lacy, a justice of the peace for said county and made oath that he had good reason to believe and doth believe that a certain Negro fellow named Adderson Belonging to Joseph [Cock?] of said county did in the night of the 10th of the present month April about the hour of ten oclock did wilfully and feloniously break into the bead room of Nancy Fisher daughter of the said Jacob Fisher and did commit an assault on her the said Nancy with an intent to commit a rape. These are therefore to authorize you in the name of the state to take the body of the said Adderson, and bring him before me or some other justice of the peace for said County, to answer this premises and further to be delt with as the law directs.

Donald R. Lacy (1803-1861) was born in North Carolina. He married Jane Bailey (1810-1887), and they had eleven children. He served as a justice of the peace in Madison County, Tennessee. In 1849, they moved to Texas.

Jacob Fisher lived in Madison County, Tennessee, in 1830, and owned twenty-five slaves.

Joseph Cook lived in Madison County, Tennessee, in 1830 and 1840. In 1830, he owned ten slaves, and ten years later, he owned five slaves.
