Laid down on a stock mount measuring 11" x 14" overall. Ex-Estate of Major General Kenyon A. Joyce (1879-1960), a cavalry officer with whom it is likely McCoy served during World War I. Tim McCoy was considered one of the "Big Four" Western cowboy actors of the Silent Era and Golden Age of Hollywood, alongside Hoot Gibson, Tom Mix, and Ken Maynard. McCoy learned authentic riding and ropework skills as a ranch hand and rodeo performer. He was active in Hollywood productions between the early 1920s and his retirement in 1936. After that, he maintained a public profile by participating in circus and Wild West performances, as well as hosting television shows.
