Boris Karloff Signature Clip Dating 7 Months After "Bride of Frankenstein" Release!
Signature
A signature clip belonging to iconic horror legend Boris Karloff (1887-1969), signed by him as "Boris Karloff" at left, and inscribed by him as "Beverly Hills, Calif." at right. A small typed label providing the date as "14/11/35" is affixed at lower right. Expected wear including even toning and isolated edge darkening/discoloration. The area around the affixed date label is slightly smudged. Else very good and trimmed to an overall size of 10.75" x 2.125" at its widest point. Accompanied by a semi-matte black and white photograph showing a scene from "Bride of Frankenstein," the 1935 horror movie starring Boris Karloff as Frankenstein's Monster and Elsa Lancaster as the Monster's Mate. Printed on Fujifilm photo paper, with a few stray wrinkles, 10" x 8."

"Bride of Frankenstein" was released seven months before Karloff signed this document fragment, in April 1935. It resumed the story of "Frankenstein," the hugely popular horror movie directed by James Whale and released by Universal Pictures four years earlier, in 1931. Henry Frankenstein collaborates with his mentor Dr. Septimus Pretorius to create a suitable bride for Frankenstein's Monster, but after she repudiates her spouse, Frankenstein's Monster orchestrates a murder-suicide by imploding the laboratory. "Son of Frankenstein" would follow in 1939.
