Ronald Reagan Signed Knute Rockne Anniversary Program, Coach to "win one for the Gipper", w/ WH Staff Provenance!
Signed Menu/Program
A program honoring the life of legendary football coach Knute Rockne, signed and inscribed by President Reagan on the inside cover: "Dear Chuck- Best wishes & regards./ Ronald Reagan". 3pp of a bifolium, 6" x 9", Notre Dame, IN, March 9, 1988. Bearing a commemorative 22 cent stamp that celebrated Rockne's 100th birthday, stamped with its first day of issue. The program also notes the event's remarks and addresses, of which President Reagan was an honored speaker. Exhibits light creasing at outside hinge, with slight pressure indentations on front cover from the President's writing. Otherwise, near fine. A possibly unique example!

Accompanied by a letter of provenance signed by Charles T. Condlin of the White House Medical Unit (1982-1991) describing how he acquired the item. Reading in part:

"President Ronald Reagan traveled to the Joyce Center at Notre Dame to unveil the Knute Rockne commemorative 22 cent postal stamp. I was among the medical staff traveling with the President that day. In the movie "Knute Rockne: All American" Reagan played the part of halfback George Gipp who… told Rockne to "win just one for the Gipper". Reagan used the line from the movie… many times during his political life.

While in route back to Washington I asked President Reagan if he would sign my program. I am quite certain this is the only one that he signed that day."
