Original Western Union telegram issued during Richard Nixon's 1968 presidential campaign and boldly signed by Nixon in bold blue ink across the right-center portion of the document. The telegram was sent from Washington, D.C., to "Richard Stonely" of Staten Island, New York, urging a final campaign push in the closing hours of the election. The telegram contains an emphatic campaign message encouraging supporters to maximize voter turnout for Nixon in New York State. The document remains highly displayable, featuring the classic Western Union heading and period typography associated with mid-twentieth-century political communications. Nixon's large signature stands out prominently against the telegram's cream-colored background. Expected folds, light toning and wear, else fine, boldly signed. Measures 8" x 5.75".

This telegram originates from the dramatic closing stages of the 1968 presidential election, one of the most turbulent and consequential elections in modern American history. The nation was deeply divided by the Vietnam War, urban unrest, political assassinations, and social upheaval. Richard Nixon campaigned on themes of law and order, national stability, and restoring confidence in American leadership following years of political and cultural turmoil.

Campaign telegrams such as this were important tools for mobilizing grassroots supporters before the widespread use of computerized campaign systems and modern digital communications. Nixon's direct appeal for an "extra-ordinary effort" reflects the urgency and competitiveness of the election, particularly in key states such as New York. Nixon ultimately defeated Vice President Hubert Humphrey in November 1968, returning Republicans to the White House after eight years of Democratic control.
