Description:

Nixon, Richard (1913-1994) Richard Nixon, as President, signs a typed letter on formal White House stationary to Rep Samuel L. Devine, commenting on his appreciation of his role in the 1972 convention

Fine one page letter 6.75" x 9" on formal White House stationary with the embossed seal to the top, center of page. Repaired intact tear along right margin, not affecting text, otherwise near fine.

Richard Nixon boldly signs a typed letter as President, using his initial "R.N." . The letter was written to Rep Samuel L. Devine and states " This is the first opportunity I have had to write you of my appreciation for your role in the 1972 ConventionÉCertainly, the greatest reward for your efforts will be victory in November, but in the mean time I wanted you to have the enclosed as a momento of the Convention and a small token of my gratitude." The described "memento" is no longer present, but may have been affixed to the letter along the location of the tear.

A wonderful early, signed example of Nixon's signature on the official White House stationary while President.
