John F. Kennedy
n.p., ca. 1960
JFK Magnificent Original Jacques Lowe Signed Photo, Huge & Super Rare Since Archive Destroyed at World Trade!
Signed photograph

An original, gelatin silver print photograph depicting then-Senator Kennedy aboard his campaign airplane "Caroline". 1p, measuring 10.75" x 13", n.p., ca. 1960 (almost certainly type I). Signed by the photographer in the lower right along bottom margin as "Jacques Lowe". This powerful and dignified image, captured aboard the Convair 240 "Caroline", shows the President-to-be deep in thought while holding a cigar. Exhibits moderate creasing to all four corners, with light edge soiling commensurate with age. Isolated silvering along far left margin. Overall, very attractive. Displayed behind a windowed mat, measuring 16" x 18" overall.

An unsigned, standard size Type I photograph by Lowe, noted for its use in Kennedy's presidential campaign material, recently sold for $9,124 (Iconic Auctions, August 2, 2025).

Jacques Lowe (1930-2001) served as John F. Kennedy's personal photographer for a duration of two years, during both his presidential campaign and following the 1960 election. He notably turned down an offer to become the official White House photographer, opting instead to become a personal photographer of the First Family. Lowe's images of the President and his family are, in turn, highlighted by their intimate depictions of the "Camelot" period. His photographic archive, stored for safe-keeping in a vault in Tower 5 of the World Trade Center, would be tragically destroyed in the 9/11 terrorist attack four months after his death.

This item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.
