1.) Go to the Widow-Maker by James Jones. New York: Delacorte Press, 1967. Signed and inscribed on the half title page, "For Bedie & Walter - Hoping there're still a few things that brood of chicks you're raising out there can want to learn. James Jones 10.3.67 Earth." First Edition, First Printing. 618pp, 6.25" x 9.25" x 1.75". Dust jacket not present. Black cloth covered boards with gilt lettering on the front and spine. Bumped spine edges and corners. Minor scuffing to the boards. Discoloration to endpapers. Light toning and soiling to the text block. Inner pages clean with occasional spotting. In very good condition and boldly signed.

The novel covers the life of Ron Grant, a famous playwright, on a trip to Jamaica with his mistress. Under enormous stress, Grant's only solace is deep-sea diving, where he can appreciate the haunting beauty of the reef and underwater world. But his passion for diving soon turns to an obsession, leading Grant to take greater and greater risks that may ultimately impact the rest of his life.

James Ramon Jones (1921-1977) was an American novelist renowned for his explorations of World War II and its aftermath. He won the 1952 National Book Award for his debut novel, From Here to Eternity, which was adapted for film a year later and went on to win the Academy Award for Best Picture.

2.) Caravans by James Michener. New York: Random House, 1963. Signed on the half-title page, "Haifa, Israel 1964 James A. Michener." Second Printing. 341pp, 6" x 8.25". With deckled page edges. Endpapers have a map of Afghanistan, and the front end page has a sticker from the Sifri Bookshop. Black cloth covered boards with gilt lettering on the front. With sunning to the spine. Bumped corners and worn spine edges. Light foxing and soiling to the inner pages. Chipping to spine. Minor feathering to bold signature. In near very good condition.

Caravans is a romantic adventure set in Kabul immediately after the Second World War. Protagonist Mark Miller is tasked with finding a young woman, Ellen Jasper, who disappeared shortly after her marriage. Through his investigation, Miller gains a deeper understanding of the customs and complexities of Afghan life.

James Albert Michener (1907-1997) was an American novelist. He wrote more than forty books, most of which were long, fictional family sagas covering the lives of many generations, set in particular geographic locales and incorporating detailed history. Many of his works are bestsellers and were chosen by the Book of the Month Club. Michener is known for the meticulous research that went into his books. He was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1948 and the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1977.

Applicable shipping and handling charges will be added to the invoice. All items will ship with a signature required option, and full insurance. Most items are sent via Federal Express, with P. O. Box addresses being sent through USPS. We insure through Berkley Asset Protection with rates of $.70 per $100 of value, among the lowest insurance rates in the industry. Our shipping department cameras document every package, both outgoing and incoming, for maximum security. In addition, we compare our shipping and handling rates against those of other auction houses, to ensure that our charges are among the lowest in the trade.

Upon winning your item(s), you will receive an invoice with our in-house shipping and handling fees included. ***We will ship to the address as it appears on your invoice. If any changes to the shipping address need to be made, you must inform us immediately.***

International shipments: In order to comply with our insurance provider, all international shipments will be sent via Fed Ex and customs paperwork will show a value of $1.00. International buyers should contact our office directly with any questions regarding this policy.
