Jabotinsky Vladimir 1880 - 1940 Jabotinsky and his wife write a rare ALS from Paris to his aging mother in Palestine


Autograph Letter Signed "V" in Russian, "Jabotinsky" in English on address portion, one page, 3.5" x 5.5". Addressed by him on verso to his mother [printed "M"] "adame E. Jabotinsky / New House, opp. Bezalel / Jerusalem / Palestine." Forwarded in red ink to an address in Tel-Aviv (in Hebrew), with "Tel-Aviv" in English. Two French postage stamps postmarked Paris. Fine condition.

In full, "Dearest all, I now live on the sea shore; it rains all the time but it is wonderful. Anya and Eri are in good health, and I am too. - A belated happy fortieth birthday to John - Describe the new apartment. Too bad that you weren't able to settle in Tel-Aviv. - Warmest regards." Daughter-in-law Anya has handwritten a letter to her mother beneath her husband's letter: "I am joining to the aforesaid from myself and Eri. He is somewhat riding his bicycle and we see each other only at the table. Warmest regards and congratulations. Anya."

After World War I, Vladimir Jabotinsky brought his wife Anya and young son Eri to Paris. His aging mother, sister Tanya, and Tanya's son John went to live in Palestine. In this letter, Jabotinsky and his wife congratulate their nephew John on his 40th birthday. He laments to his mother that she wasn't able to settle in Tel-Aviv but, unbeknownst to him, they did, attested to by the postal forwarding.
