Franklin D. Roosevelt Bold SP Along With White House & 1945 Inauguration Ephemera, 6 Pcs Total

An interesting group of items relating to 32nd U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt (1882-1945), featuring a vintage photograph signed and inscribed by Roosevelt as "Franklin D Roosevelt"; as well as five pieces of ephemera pertaining to Roosevelt's fourth and last inauguration. Six pieces total. Overall condition is very good to near fine, but please refer to catalog photos for additional information related to condition. The Roosevelt signed photo comes with a JSA LOA.

The lot includes:

1. A vintage gelatin silver Harris & Ewing photograph of Roosevelt, signed and inscribed by Roosevelt as: "For F. Harold Dubord / from his friend / Franklin D Roosevelt" along the bottom margin. The name of the photographer's studio appears in the negative at lower left. The sepia-colored portrait exhibits expected wear including scattered wrinkles, scuffs, and spots, and it is trimmed along the top edge (away from FDR's head) to an overall size of 7" x 9." Else near fine. Accompanied by a Letter of Authenticity from James Spence Authentication (Parsippany, New Jersey), submission number 31134, dated September 15, 2009.

Roosevelt dedicated this photograph to F. Harold Dubord (1891-1964), a Democratic politician from Maine. Dubord served as mayor of Waterville, Maine from 1928-1932, and he was also a Democratic National Committeeman from Maine. An attorney, Dubord was sat on the bench of the Maine Supreme Judicial Court in the 1950s and 1960s.

2.-3. An elegant invitation to a White House buffet luncheon to be held on "Saturday, January the twentieth nineteen hundred and forty-five immediately after the Inaugural Ceremonies" issued to "Mr. and Mrs. Dubord." Partly printed and partly handwritten on a heavy cream stock card, with a gilt-embossed presidential seal at top. Expected light wear to the bottom edge, else near fine. Accompanied by its original "The White House" transmittal envelope, postmarked on January 13, 1945 from Washington, D.C. Bearing a canceled war-themed stamp, and neatly letter-opened at top. 5.75" x 4.75."

4.-6. Two passes, #144 and #145, issued to Mrs. F. Harold Dubord and Mr. F. Harold Dubord respectively, permitting entrance to the National Committee Inauguration Ceremonies on January 20, 1945. Partly printed and partly handwritten on heavy cream stock cards. Dubord's pass is slightly smeared and wrinkled, else near fine. Accompanied by its original "Congress of the United States" transmittal envelope, neatly letter-opened at top. 5.5" x 4.5."
