Description:

Dealer's Lot of Golden Age of Hollywood Autographs, Also Music, Sports & Astronauts, 75+ Signers, 130+ Pcs!

An impressive collection of celebrity autographs from the personal collection of Richard Lee Bylandt of St. Augustine, Florida, who worked in the Music Division at Warner Brothers Studio. The collection consists of signed photographs, unsigned photographs, autograph notes signed, typed letters signed, signed cards, printed documents, and ephemera, ca. 1960s-1990s. About 80% of the archive relates to the Golden Age of Hollywood, the film industry, and movie-making in general. Several important subgroupings include Music, Sports, and Astronaut autographs. Expected wear consistent with age and past exposure to moisture including scattered foxing, staining, or mustiness. About three quarters of the autographed material is housed in photograph/scrapbook album type adhesive pages which are aged and stained. Condition is otherwise good to very good. Please refer to catalog photos for additional information related to condition. Please note that some of the album pages are double-sided so all items may not be visible in the representative group shots. The grouping is currently stored in a box measuring 12.25" x 15.25" x 7.5." Approximately 132 pieces, with roughly 78 different signers.

We've done our best, but there could be secretarial or facsimile signatures found within this sizable collection. We welcome you to make an appointment to view the lot in person. Provenance information is in the form of a few certificates of authenticity, or original correspondence or envelopes with the stars and their agents/secretaries. Also included in the lot is an autograph collector's guidebook, Al Wittnebert's "Signatures of the Stars," providing visual examples of Hollywood signatures, signed by the author; and a 1987 Sy Sussman autograph collecting catalog from Las Vegas, Nevada that may prove useful in cross-referencing items in this collection.

The collection is comprised of:

Golden Age of Hollywood

The lion's share of the lot is material autographed by television, movie, and radio actors and actresses, comedians, dancers, and other entertainers, as well as by directors, screenwriters, special effects creators, voice actors, etc., with special representation of "The Honeymooners," "The Virginian," "The Untouchables," "Gilligan's Island," and the "Little Rascals." The group consists of both vintage and modern reprint photographs signed by the stars. Any dates from inscriptions are typically from the 1980s and 1990s. About half of the Hollywood autographs are dedicated to variations of "Richard." Autograph notes signed, typed notes signed, and signed cards by Hollywood celebrities or their agents are also interspersed throughout the grouping. Expected wear to the photos including slight curling to some. The average size of the signed photographs is 8" x 10" while the scrapbook album pages average about 9" x 11." Approximately 90 pieces.
