Description:

Clinton Bill 1946 -

"Comeback Kid" Bill Clinton signed July 1992 "Time" magazine cover two months before presidential win.

Semi-glossy "Time" magazine cover adhered to cream foam core mount signed by 42nd U.S. President Bill Clinton (born 1946) as "Bill Clinton" in black felt-tip marker. Also inscribed by Clinton: "To Jack, Thank you for your vote". Below, a bright red plaque provides us with provenance information as well as vicious irony: "Signed Sept. 1992 - Little Rock, AR - I DIDN'T VOTE FOR HIM - ". The signature and presidential inscription are bright and clean. The upper right corner of the "Time" cover has been removed; it originally featured a black band reading "Exclusive: An Interview with Clinton". The mount shows expected surface wear, especially to edges and corners.

This July 20, 1992 cover of "Time" magazine featured Democratic presidential candidate Bill Clinton and running mate Al Gore (born 1948) underneath a glowing yellow headline: "The Democrats' New Generation". The issue featured an interview with the presidential hopeful, as well as four human interest stories about the candidates and their families: "Bill Clinton: Beginning of the Road"; "Clinton's Second Chance"; Gore: A Hard-Won Sense of Ease"; and "The Other Partner Tipper Gore". "Time" portrayed the young and handsome Southern political duo in a series of candid photos and sympathetic stories.

This "Time" magazine issue appeared during late summer campaigning and followed a difficult year for the Clinton-Gore team. Clinton had lagged behind other Democratic presidential candidates in early 1992, and concerns over his extramarital affairs and his wife's potential conflicts of interest rocked the campaign. Yet the "Comeback Kid" rallied during the fall of 1992, edging out Republican candidate and 41st U.S. President George H.W. Bush (born 1924) and Independent candidate and Texan billionaire Ross Perot (born 1930) two months later in the general presidential election.

A spectacular presidential autograph, appealingly presented, and with a sense of humor!
