"Easy" Company was part of 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division during the Second World War. The company's first action was part of Operation Overlord on D-Day, and they saw further action at Eindhoven as part of Operation Market Garden and in the Battle of the Bulge. Richard Winters (1918- 2011) and Lewis Nixon III (1918-1995) became life-long friends and worked together at Nixon's family Nitration Works after the war. The pair's exploits gained international fame after the release of HBO's "Band of Brothers" in 2001, which dramatized the history of "Easy Company".
