A collection of material from a diverse pool of American politicians, consisting mainly of handwritten and typed letters, signed photographs, and other memorandum. Ranging in date approximately 100 years, ca. 1870s-1972. Totaling 28 pieces in all among 18 different signatories, including Edwards Pierrepont, James G. Blain, Garret Hobart, Jacob J. Javits, Hubert Humphrey, and many more. Exhibits varying degrees of age toning, creasing, light tearing, and letter folds throughout. Very good overall with fantastic range of contents. 1.) Edwards Pierrepont ALS to unknown recipient re: investigation of losing candidate Samuel Tilden, New York, ca. 1870s. 5" x 8".

2.) James G. Blaine ALS to unknown recipient re: publishing of a corrective article, Washington, D.C., December 9 [no year]. 5" x 8".

3.) Samuel C. Pomeroy ALS to one Mr. Timbey re: poor health with "bladder and kidney trouble" less than one month before his death, Whitinsville, MS, July 31, 1891. Accompanied by mailing envelope and cabinet photograph. 5" x 8".

4.) Garret Hobart signed cabinet photo by Davis & Sanford, New York, undated. 4.25" x 6.5"

5.) Charles W. Fairbanks TLS to William Rodenberg re: tour of East Asia, 2p, Manila, Philippines, September 21, 1909. 8" x 10.5".

6.) Franklin D. Roosevelt pair of 2 inaugural programs from 1933 & 1937, Washington, D.C. 6.25" x 9" and 8.5" x 11".

7.) Newton D. Baker ALS to Dr. Daniel Poling re: article in "Literary Digest", 2p, Cleveland, OH, August 1, 1934. 7" x 10.25".

8.) Henry A. Wallace pair of 2 signed items, including TLS re: Eisenhower and Kefauver, dated June 7, 1952 and a signed photograph. 7.25" x 10.5" and 9.75" x 13".

9.) Grouping of 9 items signed by various U.S. Senators, ca. 1938-1972. Consisting mainly of TLS, signatories include Jacob Javits, James William Fulbright, Arthur Vandenberg, Pat McCarran, John L. McClellan, James P. Mitchell, Gerald Nye, James E. Folsom, and Joseph Martin.

10.) Robert Taft clipped signature with matted photograph, no place, undated. 10" x 13".

11.) Hubert Humphrey collection of 8 signed letters and memorandum all written as Senator, ca. 1952-1960.

Unless otherwise indicated, we do our own in-house world-wide shipping!

Applicable shipping and handling charges will be added to the invoice. We offer several shipping options, and remain one of the few auction houses that proudly provides professional in-house shipping as an option to our clients. All items will ship with a signature required option, and full insurance. Most items are sent via Federal Express, with P. O. Box addresses being sent through USPS. We insure through Berkley Asset Protection with rates of $.70 per $100 of value, among the lowest insurance rates in the industry. Our shipping department cameras document every package, both outgoing and incoming, for maximum security. In addition, we compare our shipping and handling rates against those of other auction houses, to ensure that our charges are among the lowest in the trade.

Upon winning your item(s), you will receive an invoice with our in-house shipping and handling fees included. ***We will ship to the address as it appears on your invoice. If any changes to the shipping address need to be made, you must inform us immediately.***

International shipments: In order to comply with our insurance provider, all international shipments will be sent via Fed Ex and customs paperwork will show a value of $1.00. International buyers should contact our office directly with any questions regarding this policy.

Third-Party Shipping Option: If a third-party shipper is preferred, the buyer is responsible for contacting them directly to make shipping arrangements. For your convenience, we have provided some recommended shippers. For your protection, we will require a signed release from you, confirming your authorization for us to release your lots to your specified third-party. At that point, our responsibility and insurance coverage for your item(s) ceases. Items picked up by third-party shippers are required to pay Connecticut sales tax. Items requiring third-party shipping due to being oversized, fragile or bulky will be denoted in the item description.

After payment has been made in full, University Archives will ship your purchase within 10 business days following receipt of full payment for item.
