Large single sheet 20" x 15.25", entirely in manuscript of a documented and signed roll call of officers under the direction of Zachary Taylor, signed by Taylor as "Z. Taylor. Col/Comdg". Docket on verso, Expected folds. Clean and crisp paper stock with but a very foxing dots to the upper edge. Fine condition

A large single sheet listing out the "Roll of the commissioned Officers, Musicians, Privates, employed on Extra duty under my direction..."Z. Taylor. Col/Comdg" The document lists out 21 men, by name, designation, company, Regiment, By whose Order Employed, Nature of Service, Term of Service, and Amount (paid). A handsome and revealing document with such examples of the "Nature of Service" encompassing from "Carpenter" to "Blacksmith" to "In Charge of Sawmill", "Teamsters", and "Stonemasons".

Taylor had served from 1829 to 1832 at Fort Snelling as Indian Superintendent. He was then promoted to colonel, and stationed at Fort Crawford. In the Black Hawk War he commanded his troops in capturing Black Hawk.

A great piece which would make an excellent large presentation framed.
