The "Boston Chronicles" was published by Scotsmen John Mein and John Fleeming for a brief period from December 21, 1767 until 1770. As a Loyalist paper, it frequently drew the ire of colonial merchants and citizens and was eventually ransacked by locals - halting operations. The "Letters from a Farmer in Pennsylvania, to the Inhabitants of the British Colonies, were a series of twelve essays widely published between late 1767 and early 1768 by John Dickinson. The letters sought to highlight the unconstitutionality of new British revenue laws and were key in uniting colonists against the Townshend Acts in the years prior to the American Revolution. Although signed "A Farmer", Dickinson was a Pennsylvania lawyer and legislature, and his letters are viewed by historians as the most impactful publications to the Revolutionary War prior to Thomas Paine's "Common Sense".
