A group of material relating to 23rd U.S. President Benjamin Harrison (1833-1901), including two clipped signatures belonging to Harrison, dated during and after his presidency; an 1888 campaign ribbon; an 1889 Inaugural Ball program with envelope; an 1892 campaign card advertisement for Harrison and his Vice Presidential running mate Whitelaw Reid; and an early 20th C. picture postcard showing Harrison's grave site. Please refer to catalog photos for additional information related to condition, which is overall very good. The largest item, the Inaugural Ball program envelope, measures 8.125" x 10.125."

The lot includes:

- A signature clip belonging to Harrison, signed and inscribed by him as "Benj Harrison / Sept 20 1889." N.p. The paper fragment is gently toned, with isolated stains. Trimmed to an overall size of 4.625" x 2.375."

- A signature clip belonging to Harrison, signed by him as "Benj. Harrison" at the center, clipped from a typed letter signed and mounted on a stock card. Inscribed in another hand below the signature as: "Written to C. Ellis Stevens from Fifth Ave. Hotel N.Y. / June 1st 1895." A previous collector's pencil notations found along the lower margin. Clip has flattened folds with gentle toning, else near fine. The clip measures 5" x 1.625" while the mount measures 5.875" x 2.375."

- "Harrison / 1888" silk campaign ribbon showing Harrison's bust portrait at center, ca. 1888. N.p. No maker's mark. Scattered light stains and isolated pencil marks, else near fine. 3" x 7.25."

- A program commemorating the March 4, 1889 Inaugural Ball. The Bailey, Banks & Biddle (Philadelphia) printed program includes three engravings: an allegorical scene, and two portraits of President Harrison and Vice President Levi Morton. The two textured covers are secured by a red silk ribbon. A few gentle wrinkles to the tissue guard, else near fine. The program measures 7.375" x 9.5." Accompanied by its original transmittal envelope with fancy gilt embossed and red sawtooth paper seal, its edge heavily taped, 8.125" x 10.125."

- "Harrison & Reid" campaign card advertisement depicting a jugate of Harrison and his new Vice Presidential running mate Whitelaw Reid, ca. 1892. N.p. No publisher's information. Pencil inscriptions verso do not affect the bold patriotic messaging. 4.25" x 6."

- An early 20th C. photo postcard, No. 4767, published by The Indiana News Company, showing Harrison's tomb, captioned "Monument of Benjamin Harrison, President of United States, 1889-1893, Crown Hill Cemetery, Indianapolis, Ind." along the bottom edge. Unclear postmark reading October 24, 19[]. [Indianapolis, Indiana.] Used; the sender has pencil-inscribed the recipient's name and a brief message. 5.5" x 3.5."

Unless otherwise indicated, we do our own in-house world-wide shipping!

Applicable shipping and handling charges will be added to the invoice. We offer several shipping options, and remain one of the few auction houses that proudly provides professional in-house shipping as an option to our clients. All items will ship with a signature required option, and full insurance. Most items are sent via Federal Express, with P. O. Box addresses being sent through USPS. We insure through Berkley Asset Protection with rates of $.70 per $100 of value, among the lowest insurance rates in the industry. Our shipping department cameras document every package, both outgoing and incoming, for maximum security. In addition, we compare our shipping and handling rates against those of other auction houses, to ensure that our charges are among the lowest in the trade.

Upon winning your item(s), you will receive an invoice with our in-house shipping and handling fees included. ***We will ship to the address as it appears on your invoice. If any changes to the shipping address need to be made, you must inform us immediately.***

International shipments: In order to comply with our insurance provider, all international shipments will be sent via Fed Ex and customs paperwork will show a value of $1.00. International buyers should contact our office directly with any questions regarding this policy.

Third-Party Shipping Option: If a third-party shipper is preferred, the buyer is responsible for contacting them directly to make shipping arrangements. For your convenience, we have provided some recommended shippers. For your protection, we will require a signed release from you, confirming your authorization for us to release your lots to your specified third-party. At that point, our responsibility and insurance coverage for your item(s) ceases. Items picked up by third-party shippers are required to pay Connecticut sales tax. Items requiring third-party shipping due to being oversized, fragile or bulky will be denoted in the item description.
