18th & 19th C. Newspapers, War News and Unique Ads & Articles

A group of six newspapers from the 1700s to 1800s, both local and international. The papers, ranging in size, date from 1777 to 1862 and cover a wide range of American and British history. Publications from the "Glasgow Journal", "The Morning Post", "The Evening Post", the "Providence Daily Journal", and the "Evening Delta." All have flattened folds, with varying degrees of separations, chipping, paper loss, and edge tears. All have varying degrees of toning, foxing, and soiling as well. Please refer to the photographs for further condition information. Overall good.

Includes the following:

1. "Glasgow Journal", Glasgow, dated November 20-27, 1777. No. 1899. Published by Peter Tait, Bookseller. With accounts of engagements at Hackensack and Schuylkill, mentioning General Washington.
2. "The Morning Post", London, dated February 4, 1807. No. 11,221. Printed by N. Byrne and published by J. Nott. With numerous ads and British news.
3. "The Morning Post", London, dated February 5, 1807. No. 11,222. Printed by N. Byrne and published by J. Nott. With numerous ads and British news.
4. "The Evening Post" Semi-Weekly, New York, dated February 2, 1856. Vol. XLVII. Published by William C. Bryant & Co. Signed "Cap Kirby" at the top margin. News on possible war with Great Britain, the persecution of Col. Fremont, and Congressional events.
5. "Providence Daily Journal", Providence, dated April 17, 1861. Vol. XXXII, No. 92. Published by Knowles & Anthony. With a full page of advertisements.
6. "Evening Delta", New Orleans, dated May 13, 1862. No publisher information. Civil War news on the Mortar fleet, the Imperial French Navy, and the killing of Dr. Hensley by Judge Price.

Unless otherwise indicated, we do our own in-house worldwide shipping!

Applicable shipping and handling charges will be added to the invoice. We offer several shipping options, and remain one of the few auction houses who proudly provides professional in-house shipping as an option to our clients. All items will ship with signature required, and full insurance. Most items are sent via Federal Express, with P. O. Box addresses being sent through USPS. We insure through Berkley Asset Protection with rates of $.70 per $100 of value, among the lowest insurance rates in the industry. Our shipping department cameras document every package, both outgoing and incoming, for maximum security. In addition, we compare our shipping and handling rates against those of other auction houses, to ensure that our charges are among the lowest in the trade.

Upon winning your item(s), you will receive an invoice with our in-house shipping and handling fees included. ***We will ship to the address as it appears on your invoice. If any changes to the shipping address need to be made, you must inform us immediately.***

International shipments: In order to comply with our insurance provider, all international shipments will be sent via Fed Ex and customs paperwork will show a value of $1.00. International buyers should contact our office directly with any questions regarding this policy.
