16 Pieces of Tiffany Sterling Silver Flatware from Olympian Line, Sought-After, Gorgeous!
Tableware
A collection of 16 pieces of Tiffany & Co. sterling silver flatware in the firm's legendary Olympian pattern.

Olympian, designed by Edward Moore and sculptor Antoine Heller, is the most elaborate and complex of all Tiffany flatware designs, with each piece inspired by a well-known story in classical Greek mythology. The style is Beaux-Arts, and the line was introduced at the Exposition Universelle in Paris, 1878. Heavy, well-balanced and elegant, Olympian flatware includes an incredible 17 different and equally-elaborate designs - with some pieces even accented with a mythological figure under the tines of the fork or bowl of the spoon.

In overall very good condition, with some pieces exhibiting light signs of use and expected tarnish consistent with age.

This collection includes:

1 large carving knife (13.5")
1 large carving fork with table rest (11", blade possibly replaced)
1 smaller carving knife (10.5")
1 serving fork (8")
1 cold meat serving fork (9")
2 large dinner forks (8")
1 salad fork (7")
2 round soup spoons (6.5")
1 small soup spoon (6")
2 large dinner knives (9")
1 large dinner knife with blunt blade (10.33")
2 oyster forks (6.25")

Edward Moore, designer of this pattern, dominated the first era of Tiffany made flatware and designed several full lines of sterling patterns. Moore's father manufactured for Tiffany and upon retirement left Edward Moore in charge at the young age of 24. In 1868 Tiffany incorporated and bought the Moore Company, making Moore a Tiffany director and chief designer and head of silverware operation. With his travels, he experienced many exotic cultures and art which significantly impacted his designs. After his death, his true genius was fully acknowledged and he was then called "A Prince of Silversmiths.... easily the foremost silversmith in the United States."
