A group of material relating to 28th U.S. President Woodrow Wilson (1856-1924), including a typed letter signed by Wilson dated June 27, 1917; a "Mr. Woodrow Wilson" calling card; a secretarial letter and envelope from the White House; a Democratic National Committee fundraising certificate; a Pach Bros. photograph of Wilson; and a reproduction of an October 1912 magazine cover showing Wilson and his vice presidential running mate. Please refer to catalog photos for additional information related to condition, which is overall very good. The letter measures 7.25" x 10.75."

The lot includes:

- 1p typed letter signed by Wilson as President as "Woodrow Wilson" near right center. June 27, 1917. [Washington, D.C.] On watermarked bifold stationery with "The White House / Washington" letterhead. Expected flattened transmittal folds and a few extra wrinkles, with several paperclip impressions at upper left. The inner pages are stuck together and there are sticky mounting traces on the outer leaf. Else very good to near fine. 6.875" x 8.75."

Wilson wrote this letter to U.S. Secretary of Agriculture David F. Houston (1866-1940) asking his advice in a matter related to "Mr. Kent," that is, former Congressman from California William Kent (1864-1928). Kent had recently been appointed by Wilson to the U.S. Tariff Commission, the predecessor agency of today's U.S. International Trade Commission.

- A calling card reading "Mr. Woodrow Wilson / Princeton, N.J." in a pleasing printed calligraphy. Isolated water stains and closed edge tears. Mounting traces verso. 3.375" x 1.75."

- 1p manuscript letter on speckled bifold "The White House / Washington" stationery conveying the regrets of "The President and Mrs. Wilson" at their inability to attend the wedding of William Dulles's daughter Edith to Frederick Snare, Jr. Ca. May 13, 1916. [Washington, D.C.] Dulles was probably a school mate of Wilson's from Princeton University. 5.25" x 6.75." Accompanied by its original transmittal envelope with matching letterhead, postmarked and letter-opened.

- A partly printed and partly typed certificate issued by the Democratic National Committee to a donor named James P. Glynn after the 1912 presidential election, on November 8, 1912. 11.875" x 7."

- A Pach Bros. black and white semi-glossy photograph of Wilson mounted on white chipboard. A semi-circular tear has been repaired along the lower center edge. Overall size 5" x 7."

- An archival-quality reproduction of the front cover of the Campaign Number of "Puck" Magazine, Vol. LXXII, No. 1860, dated October 23, 1912, showing Woodrow Wilson and his running mate Thomas R. Marshall. 8" x 12."

Unless otherwise indicated, we do our own in-house world-wide shipping!

Applicable shipping and handling charges will be added to the invoice. We offer several shipping options, and remain one of the few auction houses that proudly provides professional in-house shipping as an option to our clients. All items will ship with a signature required option, and full insurance. Most items are sent via Federal Express, with P. O. Box addresses being sent through USPS. We insure through Berkley Asset Protection with rates of $.70 per $100 of value, among the lowest insurance rates in the industry. Our shipping department cameras document every package, both outgoing and incoming, for maximum security. In addition, we compare our shipping and handling rates against those of other auction houses, to ensure that our charges are among the lowest in the trade.

Upon winning your item(s), you will receive an invoice with our in-house shipping and handling fees included. ***We will ship to the address as it appears on your invoice. If any changes to the shipping address need to be made, you must inform us immediately.***

International shipments: In order to comply with our insurance provider, all international shipments will be sent via Fed Ex and customs paperwork will show a value of $1.00. International buyers should contact our office directly with any questions regarding this policy.

Third-Party Shipping Option: If a third-party shipper is preferred, the buyer is responsible for contacting them directly to make shipping arrangements. For your convenience, we have provided some recommended shippers. For your protection, we will require a signed release from you, confirming your authorization for us to release your lots to your specified third-party. At that point, our responsibility and insurance coverage for your item(s) ceases. Items picked up by third-party shippers are required to pay Connecticut sales tax. Items requiring third-party shipping due to being oversized, fragile or bulky will be denoted in the item description.
