William Shatner Handwritten Signed Essay Remembering Gene Roddenberry
AMS
William Shatner (b.1931). Autograph Manuscript Signed, "William Shatner", 1p, on his personal embossed stationery, 7.25" x 10.25", no place, no date. Light creasing. In fine condition. With a letter of authenticity by William Shatner.

Shatner's handwritten remembrance of Star Trek creator, Gene Roddenberry (1921-1991), in full: "Gene Roddenberry became quite ill as he got older. He had been a pilot, a policeman, a two fisted drinker - he had lived a fast life - slowly his strength and his mind began to fail him. Not during the time I knew him on the Star Trek that I was on, but it became very evident on 'The Next Generation' - He was rest on Holidays and he would get a little better, then inexorably the conditions worsened. At the end, his body and his mind had deteriorated. He had come up with this wonderful concept for a television show - He had cast it so well - he wrote several of the pieces and had done a fine job - His legacy is the Star Trek franchise which exists today - Billions of dollars in revenue - He died a rich man in the arms of his loved ones. He had created a show business phenomenon - what else could you ask for. Maybe just a little more time."
