William Clinton Dish Personally Owned and Used Plate, Donated By Hillary!

Hillary Rodham Clinton "Governor Clinton" Pattern Dish Personally Owned and Used at the Arkansas Governor's Mansion

Syracuse China Co. "Governor Clinton" pattern salad plate personally owned by First Lady of Arkansas Hillary Rodham Clinton (born 1947) and used at the Arkansas Governor's Mansion. Cream ground with stylized acanthus leaf at center and concentric gray and gilt rims. Stamped verso. In near fine condition, with expected surface wear consistent with infrequent and careful use. 8" diameter. Accompanying paperwork indicates the plate was later donated by Clinton to a Democratic Party charity auction.

This "Governor Clinton" pattern china was used at the Arkansas Governor's Mansion between 1979-1981 and 1983-1992 during the tenure of husband Bill Clinton (born 1946) as Governor. No doubt the Clintons and their state guests delighted in the coincidence!

The Arkansas Governor's Mansion, located in downtown Little Rock, is a 3-storey brick front Georgian style mansion completed in 1950. With its double covered walkways, herb and vegetable gardens, and water fountain, it provided an elegant setting for state events. This salad plate could have been used in the Dining Room, one of the mansion's four public rooms. The dining room, furnished with European antiques and a Persian carpet gifted by former Arkansas Governor Winthrop Rockefeller and his wife Jeanette, also housed a 62-pc sterling silver service from the U.S.S. Arkansas.

The Syracuse China Co., headquartered in upstate New York, operated between 1871-2009.
