Whitey Ford's Owned "Pride of the Yankees" Daily News Plaque From Monument Park Induction!
Plaque

Whitey Ford's personally owned commemorative plaque reproducing the front page of the Daily News from April 7, 1986, honoring Whitey Ford with the headline "PRIDE OF THE YANKEES." The image features a stylized engraved illustration of Ford in his Yankees cap holding a baseball, celebrating his recognition as one of the franchise's all-time greats. The bottom reads: "Whitey Ford receives 1986 Award." The plaque is mounted on a sturdy wooden backboard, preserving the stylized newspaper format and artistic engraving in excellent condition. Accompanied by a Letter of Provenance from the Ford family, signed by the son of Whitey Ford. Expected wear. The plaque measures 14" x 18."

This "Pride of the Yankees" Daily News plaque coincides with Whitey Ford's induction into Monument Park at Yankee Stadium in 1986, a significant honor that permanently enshrined him among the franchise's all-time legends. While Ford had already secured his place in Cooperstown with his 1974 Hall of Fame induction, the Monument Park tribute reflected the Yankees' highest internal recognition, reserved for those whose contributions transcend statistics to embody the spirit of the team. The April 7, 1986 edition of the Daily News, replicated on this commemorative plaque, celebrated that moment with a bold front-page tribute—cementing Ford's status not just as a champion on the field, but as a beloved symbol of Yankee greatness.
