A formal black and white portrait photograph of U.S. Supreme Court Justices Earl Warren, Felix Frankfurter, Hugo L. Black, Stanley Reed, William O. Douglas, Sherman Minton, Harold H. Burton, Tom C. Clark, and John M. Harlan. Photographed by Ackad Studios in Washington, D.C. on May 23, 1955. Signed in stone at lower right. Pen-inscribed verso. A 7" long crease runs diagonally through Justices Harlan and Douglas, and the right margin shows some minor damage. Justice Douglas's signature is slightly smeared, otherwise the signature panel is pristine. 16.125" x 11".

- Hugo L. Black (1886-1971), as "Hugo L Black", served as Associate Justice between 1937-1971

 

- Earl Warren (1891-1974), as "Earl Warren", served as Chief Justice between 1953-1969

 

- Stanley Reed (1884-1980), as "Stanley Reed", served as Associate Justice between 1938-1957

 

- William O. Douglas (1898-1980), as "Wm O Douglas", served as Associate Justice between 1939-1975

 

Under the leadership of 14th Chief Justice of the United States Earl Warren, the U.S. Supreme Court adjudicated landmark cases that shaped civil rights, criminal law, election practices, and the separation of church and state. Overall, Warren's tenure strengthened the power of the judiciary.

Our shipping department cameras document every package, both outgoing and incoming, for maximum security. In addition, we compare our shipping and handling rates against those of other auction houses, to ensure that our charges are among the lowest in the trade.
