William Henry Harrison was the ninth president of the United States, serving only one month in office before his death in 1841. He was a veteran of the War of 1812, a Congressman from Ohio, and a Whig Party leader. He is best remembered for his brief tenure in office, becoming the first president to die in office.

Born on February 9, 1773, near Charlottesville, Virginia, Harrison's father was a prosperous planter and a delegate to the Continental Congress. His mother, Elizabeth Harrison, was the daughter of Benjamin Harrison, a signer of the Declaration of Independence. After attending an academy in Berkeley County, Harrison was accepted to Hampden-Sydney College in 1787. At the age of 19, Harrison left college to join the U.S. Army.

Throughout his military career, Harrison served in various locations, such as the Northwest Indian War, the War of 1812, and the Battle of the Thames. During the War of 1812, Harrison was appointed as a major general and in command of the Army of the Northwest. He was successful in defeating the Native Americans at the Battle of Tippecanoe in 1811.

Harrison was elected to the House of Representatives in 1816 and served until 1819. He then served as Secretary of the Northwest Territory from 1801 to 1813. In 1828, Harrison was elected to the Ohio Senate and served until 1831. Shortly after, Harrison was elected to the U.S. Senate, where he served from 1833 to 1836.

In 1836, Harrison was the Whig Party's presidential candidate and was defeated by Democrat Martin Van Buren. However, in 1840, Harrison was elected president with the slogan “Tippecanoe and Tyler too”. On April 4, 1841, Harrison was sworn in as president, but his presidency was cut short when he died of pneumonia only one month later.
