A beautiful example of a Hospital war appointment. This example from the Army of the United States certifying that "Aldolph Wulff, a recruit United States Army", "having been recommended as a fit person to received the appoint of Hospital Steward". These positions were to bolster the medical and hospital positions for the Army which was probably in great need as this appointment was granted just after the ending of the cCivil War.
