Three World War I Propaganda Posters, Attractive for Display

A fantastic group of three propaganda posters from the First World War. Varying sizes, dating ca. 1917 to 1919, and published in the United Kingdom and the U.S. The posters call for various ways to aid the war effort, including donations to the Food Administration, enlistment, and the purchase of savings certificates to fund the military. Two are linen-backed, while the third has been matted. Varying degrees of light toning, soiling, and dampstaining. Some edge and corner wear. All with bright colors. Overall, very fine.

Includes:
1. "WAR RAGES IN FRANCE WE MUST FEED THEM." Measuring 20" x 29.25". Circa 1917, created by Harry Everett Townsend for the United States Food Administration. The black and cream poster depicts a group of refugees in a battle-damaged town. The captions reads: "They cannot fight & raise food at the same time. Denying ourselves only a little means Life to them." Marked "No. 19" at the lower left corner.
2. "BRITISHERS AND CANADIANS ENLIST TO-DAY." Measuring 20" x 29.75". A variation on Guy Lipscombe's 1917 "Britishers Enlist To-Day", which had been based on a 1915 British original "It's our flag. Fight for it. Work for it." Published by The Otis Lito Company, Cleveland. Encouraging those 18 to 45 (and in certain cases up to 50) to enlist. Reading in part: "All Arms of the service are open for enlistment and choice of regiment as far as practicable will be permitted. Enlistment will be for the duration of the war and for six months after the termination of hostilities unless sooner legally discharged…"
3. "His First Birthday Present." Measuring 18.5" x 28.75". Circa 1919, created by Bert Thomas for the National War Savings Committee. The bright orange and green poster depicts a British infantryman with a child on his lap and holding a war savings certificate booklet.
