The Three Tenors conducted a World Tour between June 1996 and July 1997, during which time they visited 11 cities in North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. Their fourth stop was on July 20, 1996 at Giants Stadium, part of the Meadowlands Sports Complex, in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Conductor James Levine and the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra accompanied the Three Tenors as they sang a number of operatic favorites. Proceeds from the concert partly went to The Bone Marrow Foundation, which Carreras, a leukemia survivor and bone marrow transplant recipient, had supported since 1988.
