Three Indentures & a Bond from 17th C. England and France, 1615-1673

A group of four 17th-century English indentures and a bond from the reigns of James I of England and Charles II. All are written upon vellum and date from 1615 to 1673. The group all have flattened folds and varying degrees of toning, soiling, and foxing. Bold and clear text and signatures by related parties. Please refer to the photographs for further condition information. Overall, very good.

Includes the following:
1. 1p, measuring 25" x 14.5", Essex County, England, dated May 7, 1615. During the reign of James I. An indenture between Edward Stokes of Essex County and Thomas Younge of the same place. With docketing on verso, with a large wax seal attached to the lower margin, measuring 1.5" x 6" (partial).
2. 1p, measuring 21.75" x 7.75", England, dated August 19, 1673. During the reign of Charles II. An indenture between Robert Vaughan of Hoxe, Montgomery County with his wife, Elizabeth, and George Howellin of Shrewsbury. With docketing on verso and dual wax seals attached to the lower margin. One is wrapped in paper, both measuring approximately 1" x 3".
3. 1p, measuring 20.25" x 12.75", Leighton, Montgomery County, England, dated March 12, 1662. During the reign of Charles II. An indenture between sisters Ellianor Okeley and Mary Okeley of Leighton, Montgomery County. With docketing on verso and two large wax seals attached to the lower margin, each measuring 1.5" x 2".
4. 1p, measuring 8.5" x 5.5", England, dated July 28, 1621. During the reign of James I. A bond between William Walley and Roger Harte. Written on the front in Latin and on verso in English. With a complete wax seal attached to the bottom margin, measuring 0.75" x 1.75".

Applicable shipping and handling charges will be added to the invoice. We offer several shipping options, and remain one of the few auction houses who proudly provides professional in-house shipping as an option to our clients. All items will ship with signature required, and full insurance. Most items are sent via Federal Express, with P. O. Box addresses being sent through USPS. We insure through Berkley Asset Protection with rates of $.70 per $100 of value, among the lowest insurance rates in the industry. Our shipping department cameras document every package, both outgoing and incoming, for maximum security. In addition, we compare our shipping and handling rates against those of other auction houses, to ensure that our charges are among the lowest in the trade.

Upon winning your item(s), you will receive an invoice with our in-house shipping and handling fees included. ***We will ship to the address as it appears on your invoice. If any changes to the shipping address need to be made, you must inform us immediately.***

International shipments: In order to comply with our insurance provider, all international shipments will be sent via Fed Ex and customs paperwork will show a value of $1.00. International buyers should contact our office directly with any questions regarding this policy.
