A collection of five books by Thornton N. Wilder, four of which have been signed by the author. Ranging in publication date from 1926 to 1933, the collection includes some of Wilder's most notable novels and plays. Varying degrees of page toning and soiling, isolated tearing and wear to dust jackets; bumped corners throughout. Otherwise, good condition with bold signatures- a comprehensive collection. The lot includes, in order of publication date:

1.) The Cabala. First edition. 230pp (London: Longmans, Green & Co., 1926). Unsigned. Hardcover beige boards with gilt detailing at spine. 5.5" x 8".

2.) The Bridge of San Luis Rey. Reprint, ca. 1950. 235pp (New York: Grosset & Dunlap, 1927). Signed and inscribed on front end page: "For Miss Sara Glass/ In thanks for so much skill and kindness and in memory of many a good long friendly talk. With many regards, Thornton Wilder/ Massachusetts General Hospital, March 28, 1951". 5.5" x 7.75".

3.) The Angel That Troubled the Waters and Other Plays. First edition. 149pp (New York: Coward & McCann, 1928). Numbered 628 out of 775 copies and signed "Thornton Wilder". Blue hardcover wrappers with silver lettering on spine. 6.5" x 9.75".

4.) The Woman of Andros. First edition. 162pp (New York: Albert & Charles Boni, 1930). Signed on front inside end paper: "Greetings of Thornton Wilder". Housed within dark red marbled slipcase. Gilt lettering and pressed illustration featured on front cover. 5.25" x 8.25".

5.) Lucrece. First edition. 90pp (Cambridge: The Riverside Press, 1933.) Signed and inscribed on full title page: "Stanley from Thornton, lots of regard/ New Haven, Connecticut 1949". Orange cloth boards with gilt laurel motifs on cover and spine. 5.75" x 8.5".

Unless otherwise indicated, we do our own in-house worldwide shipping!

Applicable shipping and handling charges will be added to the invoice. We offer several shipping options, and remain one of the few auction houses who proudly provides professional in-house shipping as an option to our clients. All items will ship with signature required, and full insurance. Most items are sent via Federal Express, with P. O. Box addresses being sent through USPS. We insure through Berkley Asset Protection with rates of $.70 per $100 of value, among the lowest insurance rates in the industry. Our shipping department cameras document every package, both outgoing and incoming, for maximum security. In addition, we compare our shipping and handling rates against those of other auction houses, to ensure that our charges are among the lowest in the trade.

Upon winning your item(s), you will receive an invoice with our in-house shipping and handling fees included. ***We will ship to the address as it appears on your invoice. If any changes to the shipping address need to be made, you must inform us immediately.***

International shipments: In order to comply with our insurance provider, all international shipments will be sent via Fed Ex and customs paperwork will show a value of $1.00. International buyers should contact our office directly with any questions regarding this policy.

Third Party Shipping Option: If a third party shipper is preferred, the buyer is responsible for contacting them directly to make shipping arrangements. For your convenience, we have provided some recommended shippers. For your protection, we will require a signed release from you, confirming your authorization for us to release your lots to your specified third party. At that point, our responsibility and insurance coverage for your item(s) ceases. Items picked up by third party shippers are required to pay Connecticut sales tax. Items requiring third party shipping due to being oversized, fragile or bulky will be denoted in the item description.
