Thomas Edison Family Financial Docs! 2 Signed Checks & Stock Cert!
Archive

Remarkable three-piece archive consisting of two original signed checks by Mina Miller Edison, wife of inventor Thomas A. Edison, and a framed 1902 stock certificate from The Edison Portland Cement Company, issued during the company's early years.

Check #1: Dated June 30, 1941, drawn on the Fidelity Union Trust Company, made payable to the Young Women's Christian World Emergency Fund for $12.50. Boldly signed "Mina M. Edison" at bottom right.

Check #2: Dated January 17, 1927, issued from Orange National Bank for $18.00 to W.H. Jackson Co., signed again by Mina M. Edison at lower right.

Stock Certificate: A stunning, ornately engraved certificate from The Edison Portland Cement Company, dated January 6, 1902, issued to Eugenia Fraenkel for 24 shares of common stock. The certificate features an engraved portrait of Thomas Edison at top center and multiple handwritten signatures, including corporate officers. The back of the certificate confirms its issue and receipt, also dated January 6, 1902. Professionally double-matted and displayed in a wood frame measuring 15" x 18".

The checks are attractively presented in a custom archival mat alongside an oval black-and-white photo of Thomas & Mina Edison alongside an associate making this both a collectible and display ready presentation measuring 12" x 18".

Mina Miller Edison (1865–1947) was the second wife of Thomas Edison and a prominent philanthropist, conservationist, and advocate for women's education. Following Edison's death in 1931, she managed aspects of his estate and legacy. The Edison Portland Cement Company, founded by Thomas Edison in 1899, was a bold effort to innovate in the construction materials industry. Though the company never reached mass success, it was responsible for producing concrete used in the original Yankee Stadium and other landmark projects. These documents reflect the financial footprint of the Edison family, from corporate ventures to charitable giving spanning four decades.
