An wonderful set of 20 large original photos personally owned by Kennedy's White House photographer, Cecil Stoughton, taken from the summer of 1963 at the Kennedy compound in Hyannis port - just months before President Kennedy's assassination. Included within the album the following noted photos:

  1. President Kennedy and Jackie with John Jr. peeking out from his large red toy car.
  2. President Kennedy, Caroline Kennedy and Lem Billings  standing barefoot along the water's edge with Caroline knee deep in the ocean, taken over Independence day weekend.
  3. Three photos of President Kennedy playing golf.
  4. Five photos of Carolyn Kennedy riding her horse, one of which includes her father, President Kennedy looking on with admiration.
  1. John F. Kennedy, Jr., with his very wet Dog, Shannon, in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts. There were a LOT of dogs at the Kennedy White House, but Shannon was said to have been the president's favorite. Shannon was a black-and-white cocker spaniel, a gift to the First Family from Ireland’s President Éamon de Valera. The dog wore a gold shamrock–decorated collar. Shannon was the only dog that Kennedy’s wife, Jacqueline, kept after the president died.

    1. Two photos of Caroline at the beach, one includes her nurse, Maud Shaw who is fixing her hair during Labor Day weekend.

    1. President Kennedy, in sunglasses, standing in front of a grounded catamaran in front of their house during Independence Day weekend.

    1. Caroline Kennedy with Secret Service agent Tom Wells strolling in the yard with a stunning view of the harbor off Hyannis Port

    1. Five photographs of an elderly Joseph Kennedy (Senior), sitting on the front porch of the Kennedy house. This stay at the Kennedy compound over the summer of 1963, would be the last time President Kennedy would see his father.

A phenomenal set of photos from a very personal, very happy family summer in the life of President Kennedy and his family. The Kennedy Compound consists of three houses on six acres of waterfront property on Cape Cod along Nantucket Sound in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts. With the family’s love of the sea, the President’s summer weekends always included time out on either a sailboat or a yacht cruise. President Kennedy, like his mother, found great restorative power in simply walking alone (trailed by Secret Service agents) along the beachfront. As he remarked,  “I always come back to the Cape and walk on the beach when I have a tough decision to make. The Cape is the one place I can think, and be alone.”

President Kennedy used the compound as a base for his successful 1960 U.S, presidential campaign and later as a summer White House and residential retreat until his assassination in November 1963.

A wonderful set of photos, personally owned by Kennedy's personal White House photographer housed in a stunning red leather album.
