The objective of this book was "to help raise the awareness of active citizenship in our country ...

To develop a greater awareness of the advantages we enjoy as Americans, emphasizing the relationship of our hard-won personal freedoms to our development as the strongest nation of free people in history.

To persuade all Americans that only by active personal participation in the affairs of the nation can we safeguard and preserve our liberties and continue to demonstrate to ourselves and to the world that the way of free men is best."

"This program is a citizen's movement. It is non-partisan and non-controversial."

The documents begin with a Letter by Christopher Columbus on the Discovery of America, then continue with the Stirrings of Freedom in Colonial America with the Mayflower Compact, The Declaration of the Nine Colonies, and continues throughout our history. Please see the images for the details of the various facsimile documents found within this book. This copy ends with letter #108, President Roosevelt's Tribute to Captain Colin Kelly.
