Description:

Franklin Benjamin 1706 - 1790 Spectacular Benjamin Franklin signed Pennsylvania land warrant.

Land deed on vellum, 15" x 13.25". Neatly inscribed recto and verso. Dated "the fifteenth day of March in the year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and eighty eight", and neatly signed by Benjamin Franklin as "B Franklin", with his characteristic flourish and counter signed by the Secretary of the Council "Charles Biddle" and William Anderson (as this being a land grant to William Anderson) . Docketed in several place to verso. Three embossed and applied seals present, two on verso and one on recto as the Seal of the State of Pennsylvania. Trivial edge wear to lower bottom edge, with small pinholes of loss along fold. Lightly stained and grubby.

"In consideration of the sum of Seventeen Shillings and six pence lawful money paid by William Anderson... for a certain tract of Land called "The Garden" Situate on Mingae Creek in Washington County ... One Hundred and Seven Acres and three quarters Strict measure ...

In Witness whereof His Excellency Benjamin Franklin Esq. President of the Supreme Executive Council that hereto set his hand and ... state seal ...
