Monroe Marilyn 1926 - 1962 A spectacular set of 7 original unpublished Marilyn Monroe glossy B&W photos, from her tour in South Korea

Includes a white border with Marilyn waving, while in her army uniform and boots. Small staple holes along while border, else near fine.
2. Photo, 3.75" x 5" close-up, cropped image of Marilyn in a strappy slinky dress in front of a microphone, performing to the troops on February 26, 1954. Notes on verso stating it was her during her appearance in Korea and she was singing "Do It Again" by Gershwin.
3. Photo, 3.75" x 5" same image, not cropped of Marilyn in a strappy slinky dress in front of a microphone, performing to the troops on February 26, 1954.

A fantastic set of photos taken during Monroe's 10 day tour to South Korea in 1954, just 12 days after been wed to Joe Dimaggio. She had been honeymooning with Dimaggio in Japan when she took a detour to Korea to entertain the troops. She performed ten shows in four days, in front of audiences that totaled more than 100,000 soldiers and marines. Later Monroe recalled that the trip "was the best thing that ever happened to me. I never felt like a star before in my heart. It was so wonderful to look down and see a fellow smiling at me." The same themed set of 7 black and white photos would be stunning matted and framed together.
In one show where the start was delayed the troops got frustrated and threatened to riot so the opening acts had to be cancelled to get her onto the stage sooner. If you take a look at the videos below you can see the reaction she gets from the crowd. They adored her, and with good reason. She looks as amazing in a baggy army uniform as she did in her fabulous wiggle dresses!
It was believed that Joe Dimaggio did not accompany her having been annoyed by the fact that more fans turned out to see Marilyn in Japan than to see him. Even at this early stage in their marriage the cracks were starting to show and they divorced later that year. After they returned to the United States, tension continued to build, particularly around DiMaggio's discomfort with his wife's sexy image. One memorable blow-up occurred in September 1954, on the New York City set of the director Billy Wilder's The Seven Year Itch. As Monroe filmed the now-famous scene in which she stands over a subway grate with the air blowing up her skirt, a crowd of onlookers and press gathered; Wilder himself had reportedly arranged the media attention. As her skirt blew up again and again, the crowd cheered uproariously, and DiMaggio, who was on set, became irate.
DiMaggio and Monroe were divorced in October 1954, just 274 days after they were married.
