President Clinton thanks Oscar winning director Fred Zinnemann for sending him his directing script and photograph picturing him, Gary Cooper, and Grace Kelly on the set of Clinton's favorite movie, "High Noon"

Rare Autograph Letter Signed "Bill Clinton" in full as President, 1 page, 6.75" x 8.75". On pale green White House stationery, presidential seal engraved in gilt at top center. The White House, Washington, May 23, 1994. To Fred [Zinnemann]. Never folded. With the Clintons' 1994 Christmas card, 7.25" x 6" (closed), bearing inside a printed greeting and facsimile signatures of the President and First Lady. Interestingly, the card was "Paid for by the Democratic National Committee." Fine condition.

In full, "Dear Fred - Your letter, the directing script, and the wonderful picture of you on the set with [Gary] Cooper and [Grace] Kelly were wonderful gifts. --- I was elated to receive them and hope someday to thank you in person."

Most ALsS of Clinton as President, which are scarce, are signed "Bill." Here offered is a rare ALS signed in full "Bill Clinton."

In a June 7, 1993, letter, President Clinton had congratulated Academy Award winning director Fred Zinnemann on his 86th birthday, expressing appreciation for his films "including my favorite movie High Noon..."

High Noon was nominated for seven 1952 Academy Awards, including Fred Zinnemann for Best Director. It won four: Best Actor (Gary Cooper), Best Music and Best Song (Dimitri Tiomkin), and Best Film Editing. Zinnemann won two Oscars for Best Director for From Here to Eternity (1953) and A Man for All Seasons (1966).
