Description:

"I'm proud to learn that you have my picture beside your picture of my good friend John Wayne… with [Jesus] in your life you need have no fear": wonderful lengthy ALS from Ronald Reagan to Buzzy Sisco on White House stationery

RONALD REAGAN (1911-2004) Autograph Letter Signed, “Ronald Reagan,” as President, 1 page, 7” x 9” on White House letterhead, Washington, February 25, 1982 to Buzzy Sisco. Fine condition. Matted and framed.

In this warm autograph signed letter on White House stationery, President Reagan is writing to Joseph "Buzzy" Sisco, the (middle-aged) mentally and physically disabled brother of the Sisco sisters, who first contacted Reagan while he was governor. Reagan wrote to Buzzy Cisco often, including during the presidency, and sent him a variety of celebrity memorabilia requested from Reagan's old Hollywood friends ranging from photographs to cowboy hats. Here, Reagan assumes an especially warm and serious tone and writes at some length, as was typical of his letters to Sisco.

Reagan writes, in full: “Dear Buzzy, Happy Birthday! I know this won't reach you in time for your birthday but I'm thinking of you and hoping it was a very happy day. I know how much your sisters love you and how much you love them. Your mother and father would be proud of you and proud of the example your sisters have set for you. Let me say I'm proud to learn that you have my picture beside your picture of my good friend John Wayne. He was a fine man and a good friend. Of course I also know, because your sisters told me, that you have a picture of Jesus. That must mean a lot to you. With him in your life you need have no fear. I'm glad to have your picture and will keep it in my desk. Again happy birthday and all best wishes to you.”
