Richard N. Bowerman Photo Archive (4) Civil War Meets WWI!

A small archive of photographs of Civil War General Richard N. Bowerman with members of his extended family. Includes a total of four photographs of Bowerman with his grandson, his wife, and his two great-granddaughters. Of varying sizes, the largest being 14" x 10.75" (including the mat) and the smallest being 8" x 10". Two are matted while the other two are unmounted. With varying degrees of toning, soiling, wear, creasing, and loss to the mats. A few imperfections, scratches, and soiling to the photographs. Overall, very good. Please refer to the images for further condition information.

Includes:
1. General Bowerman with his grandson, William Hepburn Bowerman. Measuring 8" x 10". Both are dressed in their military uniforms. William served as a private in Battery F, 58th Coastal Artillery Corps during the First World War.
2. General Bowerman with his two great-granddaughters, Fanny H. Carter and Mary Abney Clarkson. Measuring 8.5" x 7.25". Taken ca. 1918.
3. General Bowerman with his two great-granddaughters. Measuring 7.75" x 7.25 and matted to the overall size of 14" x 10.75. Signed on the mat by the photographer (unidentified). Taken ca. 1918.
4. General Bowerman and his wife. Two oval portraits, each measuring 3.5" x 5" and matted to the overall size of 12" x 8.75. Signed on the mat by the photographer (unidentified).

Richard Neville Bowerman (1831-1920) was a Civil War Union Brevet Brigadier General who served as a Captain in the 11th New York Volunteer Infantry, then as Colonel and commander of the 4th Maryland Volunteer Infantry. He was brevetted Brigadier General, US Volunteers on April 1, 1865, for "gallantry and good conduct at the battle of Five Forks, Va.". He was wounded at both the battles of Weldon Railroad and Five Forks but survived and served in the U.S. Regular Army until 1867, when he resigned with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

Applicable shipping and handling charges will be added to the invoice. We offer several shipping options, and remain one of the few auction houses who proudly provides professional in-house shipping as an option to our clients. All items will ship with signature required, and full insurance. Most items are sent via Federal Express, with P. O. Box addresses being sent through USPS. We insure through Berkley Asset Protection with rates of $.70 per $100 of value, among the lowest insurance rates in the industry. Our shipping department cameras document every package, both outgoing and incoming, for maximum security. In addition, we compare our shipping and handling rates against those of other auction houses, to ensure that our charges are among the lowest in the trade.

Upon winning your item(s), you will receive an invoice with our in-house shipping and handling fees included. ***We will ship to the address as it appears on your invoice. If any changes to the shipping address need to be made, you must inform us immediately.***

International shipments: In order to comply with our insurance provider, all international shipments will be sent via Fed Ex and customs paperwork will show a value of $1.00. International buyers should contact our office directly with any questions regarding this policy.
