RFK, G. Ford, & More Sign 1965 Pocket Congressional Directory! Unique! Ex. Kennedy Assistant
Signed book

"Pocket Congressional Directory, dated January 1965", of the 89th Congress featuring the photographs of all Members of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives. The rare book was boldly signed by Robert F. Kennedy, Gerald Ford, Ted Kennedy and John W. McCormack. Each figure has signed directly on or adjacent to their photographic portrait, making this a visually striking and historically significant piece. Pages show light age toning from handling, some paper loss and water damage, but the signatures remain crisp and clean. The book measures 4.5" x 6."

From the estate of Melody Miller.

Miller was a devoted and longtime aide to the Kennedy family, serving with distinction for over four decades. Her career began in the office of Jacqueline Kennedy shortly after President John F. Kennedy's assassination, and she soon became a trusted staffer to Robert F. Kennedy during his Senate tenure. Following his death, she continued her service with Senator Edward M. Kennedy, eventually rising to the role of deputy press secretary and becoming one of his closest and most enduring aides.

The 89th Congress (1965-1967) was one of the most consequential in American history, ushering in a wave of transformative legislation under President Lyndon B. Johnson's Great Society agenda. With strong Democratic majorities in both chambers, this Congress passed landmark laws including the Voting Rights Act of 1965, Medicare and Medicaid, the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, and major immigration reform through the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965. It was a period of sweeping social and civil rights change, driven by a generation of legislators responding to the legacy of President John F. Kennedy and the demands of a rapidly evolving American society. The presence of Robert F. Kennedy, Edward M. Kennedy, Gerald R. Ford, and John W. McCormack within this body underscores its deep political talent and historical weight.
