A fantastic Revolutionary War-dated document signed by three notable gentlemen.

Richard Varick (1753-1831) was an American lawyer, military officer, and politician who has been referred to as "The Forgotten Founding Father." A major figure in the development of post-Independence New York City and State, Varick became the 45th Mayor of New York City in 1789 and served eleven consecutive one-year terms until 1801. During the Revolutionary War, he served as George Washington's aide-de-camp and private secretary. Varick's body of work from this era would lead to the Varick Transcripts which now live in the Library of Congress. The value of these documents has been noted throughout their lifetime as invaluable to the understanding of the formation of the United States.

Philip John Schuyler (1733-1804) was an American general in the Revolutionary War and a United States Senator from New York. He is usually known as Philip Schuyler, while his son is usually known as Philip J. Schuyler. Born in Albany into the prosperous Schuyler family, he fought in the French and Indian War. Schuyler won election to the New York General Assembly in 1768 and to the Continental Congress in 1775. He planned the Continental Army's 1775 Invasion of Quebec, but poor health forced him to delegate command of the invasion to Richard Montgomery. He prepared the Continental Army's defense of the 1777 Saratoga campaign but was replaced by General Horatio Gates as the commander of Continental forces in the theater. Schuyler resigned from the Continental Army in 1779.

Jonathan Trumbull Jr. (1740-1809) was an American politician who served as the 20th governor of Connecticut, the second speaker of the United States House of Representatives, and the 24th Lieutenant Governor of Connecticut. Trumbull served in the Continental Army as paymaster general of the Northern Department from 1775- 1778. In February 1781, he was given the rank of lieutenant colonel. Trumbull served for the duration of the war as aide-de-camp to General George Washington until December 28, 1783. After the war, he became an original member of the Connecticut Society of the Cincinnati.
