Warren Buffett (b. 1930) is the second child of broker and later Congressman Howard Buffett. In his childhood, Buffett would earn money by delivering newspapers, by renting pinball machines and by selling used golf balls. His first experiences with stocks occurred at age eleven, when he bought three Preferred Shares of Cities Service (later Citgo Petroleum Corporation) for $38.25 each. He sold them later for about $40. Buffett got his Master in Economics in 1951, after studying at Wharton School (University of Pennsylvania), University of Nebraska, and Columbia University. Buffett would later accept an offer from his teacher Benjamin Graham (the father of the fundamental analysis of stocks) and started at Graham-Newman Corporation in 1954. At the age of 25, Buffett founded his own Buffett Partnership in Omaha in May 1956. He bought large stakes in Coca-Cola, American Express, and Gillette in the following years, and Buffett frequently bought undervalued, but long-term lucrative stocks. His personal worth rose to approximately 73 billion dollars and made him the third richest man in the world.
