Rare George W. Bush ALS As Pres. Signed Twice! PSA Mint 9
ALS

ALS, 1p, Washington D.C., dated January 6th, 2007, written on official Official White House stationery featuring the gold embossed presidential seal at the top left and the printed heading "THE PRESIDENT." This rare ALS was personally hand-delivered by President George W. Bush to Samuel Sutton, the White House Valet, during a particularly pivotal moment in his administration, as the Iraq War surge strategy was being formulated. In the note, President George W. Bush thanks "Sam" for his hard work in 2006 and for sending shirts, warmly extending regards from the entire Bush family, including his dogs Barney, Miss Beazley and "Kitty." Bush has boldly signed the letter as "George Bush" and his last name "Bush" is written out within the text as well. The ALS measures 6.25" x 4.25" and is encapsulated to an overall size of 6.5" x 10." PSA has graded the autograph a Mint 9. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope.

Bush ALS' as President are extremely scarce, and this is only the fourth example we have handled since Bush was elected nearly 25 years ago.

In full:

"Dear Sam –

Thanks for your hard work throughout 2006. You really help all of us a lot. And thanks for the Sam shirts. They are beauties. Warm regards for the Bush family (Barney, Beazley, Kitty included)

George W. Bush"

George W. Bush (b. 1946) served as the 43rd President of the United States from 2001 to 2009, leading the nation through the September 11 attacks and the ensuing War on Terror, including the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Domestically, his presidency included significant tax reforms, the creation of the Department of Homeland Security, and responses to crises such as Hurricane Katrina.

This letter, written shortly after New Year's Day 2007, falls within Bush's second term during a particularly pivotal moment in his administration, as the Iraq War surge strategy was being formulated. Personal handwritten notes by Bush as sitting president are relatively scarce, especially on White House presidential stationery. The friendly mention of family pets including his famous Scottish Terrier, Barney adds a personal touch that humanizes the presidency and connects directly to Bush's well-known down-to-earth style with his trusted White House Valet.

During George W. Bush's presidency, the First Family was well known for their pets, which included two Scottish Terriers: Barney, the most famous, often starring in the White House's holiday "Barney Cam" videos, and Miss Beazley, gifted to Laura Bush in 2005, as well as their longtime family cat India (nicknamed Willie), a black American Shorthair who had lived with the Bushes since 1991 and remained with them in the White House until her passing in 2009.
