Description:

Roosevelt Franklin 1882 - 1945

A rare and fully handwritten letter from President Franklin Roosevelt to his son regarding his allowance!

Single page ALS on cream lightly lined paper, 5" x 8". Penned recto with verso blank. Signed by 32nd U.S. President Franklin Roosevelt (1882-1945) as "Pa". Expected folds, else near fine. Accompanied by a copy of letter from FDR to his son written during the same time period.

A lovely letter written by President Roosevelt to his son, Franklin Jr. (1914-1988), while the latter was a college student. Although undated, the letter was mostly likely written circa 1936. The letter references "Ethel", Franklin Jr.'s future wife (they married in 1937), and also notes that a "term bill" was paid; Franklin Jr. graduated from Harvard University in 1937.

The letter is shown below:

"Dearest F,

Here is a check for $500 allowance (still due $1000 less your term bill which I paid)!

Also $100 to bring you safely home on Friday.

Your old

Pa

Love to Ethel"

A lovely rare example of an ALS from President Roosevelt to his son!
