President Truman SP w/ Staff at The Little White House in Key West
Signed photograph
A signed photograph of President Truman and his staff at Key West, dated December 11, 1949. The image measures 9.5" x 7.25", mounted to the overall size of 15.5" x 12". Signed by the president, "Harry Truman" as well as by fourteen members of his staff, including Matthew Connelly, John Steelman, Clark Clifford, and more. The photograph was taken on the lawn of the Little White House in Key West, Florida, and shows Truman seated in a chair surrounded by his staff. There is a small spot of soiling to the photograph, which is also slightly overexposed and faded. Toning to the mount edges. Light bumping to the edges and corners of the mount. All boldly signed. This photograph was a personal gift from Truman to his Chief of Staff, Matthew Connelly.

The Little White House at Key West was a vacation retreat and one of Truman's favorite spots to decompress. The house was originally built in 18980 as quarters for the Navy Commandant and Paymaster, but was renovated in 1911 as a single-family dwelling. President Taft visited the residence in 1912 during an inspection trip to the Panama Canal, and the house was also used by scientist Edward Hayden and inventor Thomas Edison during 1912-1915. President Truman first stayed at the Little White House in 1946 and visited the property frequently during his Presidency.
