THEODORE ROOSEVELT (1858-1919) Partly Printed Document Signed "Theodore Roosevelt" as President and "Geo B. Cortelyou" as Postmaster General, 1 page, 21" x 16". Washington, D.., July 11, 1906. Completed in calligraphy. Blind embossed 2.5 inch diameter gold seal of the Post Office Department at lower left. 5" long signature of Roosevelt! Slightly rolled. Fine condition.

In part, "Know ye, That reposing special trust and confidence in the Integrity, Diligence and Discretion of Thomas F. Beadles, I have nominated and by and with the consent of the Senate, do appoint Him Postmaster at Fulton in the County of Fulton, State of Kentucky..."

George B. Cortelyou (1862-1940) became Personal Secretary to President William McKinley in 1897 and was with him when he was shot in Buffalo in 1901. Cortelyou served in Roosevelt's Cabinet as the first Secretary of Commerce and Labor (1903-1904), Postmaster General (1906-1907), and Secretary of the Treasury (1908-1909).
