Madison James 1751 - 1836

President James Madison and Secretary of State James Monroe handsome signed land grant.

Single page signed land grant, 15" x 8.5". Dated June 14, 1811 and signed by 4th U.S. President James Madison (1751-1836) as "James Madison", who signed the document twice, once along the top and once at the bottom, and also signed by future 5th U.S. President and then Secretary of State James Monroe (1758-1831) as "Jas Monroe". Affixed saw toothed Presidential seal to lower left corner. Expected folds with scattered stains with a small 1/2" hole to upper margin, not affecting text. Presented matted, framed, and glazed in a decorative wood frame with a cobalt blue mat. Finished frame size of 20.5" x 16.5".

A handsome and elegant presentation of a land grant for "Lands of the United States in the Territory north west of the Ohio, and above the mouth of Kentucky river", specifically "the Northeast and South West quarters of dot on section number twenty three of Township number thirteen in the Range Number Eighteen". Framed with plaques noting that James Madison was 4th President, and James Monroe was 5th President.
