Description:

Andy Warhol signs and draws his iconic "Campbell's Soup Can" on the cover of the September 1978 issue of Interview, from the estate of model John Williams

ANDY WARHOL (1928-1987) His signature "Andy Warhol" just to the right of a sketch of his iconic "Campbell's Soup Can," on the cover of the September, [1978] issue of Interview magazine, 11" x 17". Light even toning, else fine condition.

The cover features a photograph of Berinthia "Berry" Berenson Perkins (1948-2001) taken by her husband, actor Anthony Perkins (1932-1992). Tragically, Berenson, a model and photographer, was aboard American Airlines Flight 11 on the morning of September 11, 2001. She was killed when the flight crashed into the north tower of the World Trade Center.

The issue is from the estate of model John Williams, a longtime friend of Warhols. The pair collaborated of the "The Original Andy Warhol Button Button" in the mid to late 1960s. The two came up with the idea of a "Button Button" together during the craze for political buttons in the 1960s. The central idea was to make a political pin that looked like a clothes button. The two were to partner on the idea and Andy designed it, though the button never went into mass production.
