Description:

Oswald Lee 1939 - 1963 Photos from original negatives of Lee Harvey Oswald, one ominously holding a rifle, the other his infamous mug shot

Two glossy silver gelatin black and white limited edition prints of Lee Harvey Oswald, from a limited run of 50. This set consists one photo as the limited edition number 15 of 50, and the other with the limited edition number of 41 of 50. University Archives owns the negatives and has issued a limited print run of 50 sets and no further prints will be made. Page sizes with border is 8" x 10", and 10' x 8" each. Fine condition.

A stunning set of ironic photos showing the incredible dichotomy of Oswald's life. The first photo, taken in 1958 by Robert Oswald, shows Lee Harvey Oswald smiling as a marine on leave from USMC. Rifle in hand standing very much alone and detached in barren surroundings. Yet with a smile which appears quite malapropos for the setting. The second photo taken just a few years later, shows Oswald's mug shot taking in Dallas, for the his arrest for fatally shooting a police officer, Dallas patrolman J.D. Tippitt, 45 minutes after killing Kennedy. He denied killing either one and, as he was being transferred to county jail two days later, he was shot and killed by Dallas nightclub operator Jack Ruby. An incredible set of limited edition images in two very diverse settings.

Perfect for a collector of Oswald or Kennedy memorabilia, the set will be accompanied by a COA from University Archives identifying the photo prints as "Two silver gelatin 8" x 10" prints made from unique negatives purchased directly from Lee Harvey Oswald's brother, Robert, in 2015. Limited Edition of 50; no others will be printed by us."

Provenance: Robert Oswald.
